And they Laughed Update

In my last post, I described that incident where the congregation disrespectfully laughed at the reading of the Epistle during the Opening Eucharist of the Diocesan Convention. I told my mother, a long time warden, and volunteer in her dioceses, about the laughter. She was very puzzled and explains it not uncommon for 1st Timothy 3: 1-7 to be read during a service before selection a bishop. In addition, this makes Bishop the Rt. Rev. Jerry Lamb’s remark even more troubling. As a Bishop he should not been taken back by the selection of 1 Timothy.

And they Laughed

The recent election of an avowed as Bishop Suffragan for Diocese of Los Angeles reminds me how far my church; The Episcopal Church has drifted away form biblical authority.  The recent election of homosexual Bishop and blessing of same sex marriage is just a symptom of a great problem, the Episcopal Church 40 year, or so history of denying and disrespecting the Bible as our authority of the faith in our churches.

This disregard and disrespect hits closer to home during Oregon Diocesan Convention. The priest, who was organizing the opening Eucharist of the Diocesan Convention , contacted our church waning to know if one of our delegates would read the Epistle. They held Opening Eucharist of the Diocesan Convention on Thursday, November 19, at 7:00 pm – the eve of the election of the Tenth Bishop of Oregon. The Epistle given as follows:

Sometimes I Wonder Why I am a Republican

Or I have no faith in the Grass Roots.

I need to interrupt my thoughts in the healthcare debate for this an email from:

Rob Wasinger
Candidate for Congress
1st District of Kansas, Open Seat

First why contact me in Oregon, we got our own problems. As I read his letter the it just get worst.

I am quite intelligent and can see they may political ads. I am turn off when a person uses all caps, underline, and bold fonts to highlight “Key words and phrases”. First, it looks very unprofessional; second, it makes the person look like a loony, tin foil hat conspiracist or a penny stock con artist. .

I also hate how his email appeal lacks any intellectual depth, noting absence of thoughtful written paragraphs and   endless on line attacks and bullets. The Pièce de résistance is this little gem”

“my opponent pushed government funding of a risky procedure to reduce obesity by wrapping “a band around the upper portion of the stomach, restricting the ability to overeat””

One can argue against government funding, still, as somebody who has a problem with obesity, I find his comment very ridiculous. Many morbid obese people have found relief with this surgery. There are many factors that contribute for bad habits to a metabolic system that is totally out of whack. My information comes for my doctor with 20 years experience in internal medicine.

Sadly, the letter is one example of the dearth of intellectual conservatism today.

The people of 1st District needs to look elsewhere for a candidate.

Letter after the cut.

Joe Wilson and the need For The President’s Questions

A poster on one of our forums pointed out what Joe Wilson is mild compared to what happens during Prime Minister’s Questions.  Why can we have this in the US? For 30 min a week the president must meet in a joint session of congress to answer questions including six given to the minority party in congress.   Let there be debate and accountability , instead of presidential pontifications.
